Fulham Heights is a conversion of an old corner shop and includes retail facilities, offices and residential spaces. The project intends to be a lighthouse of hope and regeneration, promoting passive surveillance in a notoriously high-crime area.
Harmonisation
- What is novel about this project is how the architect saw the potential of the building and approached the previous owner of the building, forming a partnership with an accountant, adding a new structure on the existing building — rather than demolishing — to have a mixed-use programme.
- Resource efficiency in using an existing building on a brownfield site while maintaining its historical heritage and using experimental building technology in a sensitive manner.
People Upliftment
An instigator for upgrading the Brixton neighbourhood. The architect is a young professional working in an incredibly competitive space. His business becomes a model for other emerging professionals, some of them in his employment. He is a good leader.
